Oil: nine Pontine producers as tutors of the rural landscape

The rural landscapes of top quality Extra- Virgin olive oil and suitable farming techniques in this field were the key- protagonists of the third provincial concourse in Fossanova Abbey promoted by Aspol (the olive-oil association from Latina), the province of Latina and Capol (the tasters' centre of olive-productions from Latina) under the aegis of the region Lazio, the city- council of Priverno, the city council of Roccasecca dei Volsci, the city council of Sonnino, the mountain community of Lepini and Ausoni Mountains, the trade chamber of Latina. There are nine active farms on the Lepini Ausoni and Aurunci mountains, selected and awarded for their eco-farming leadership.
The winners of the third concourse for the Province "The oil of the hills" are: Mario Cardosi (Sonnino), Francesco Bianchieri (Priverno), and Filomena Colletta, while the producer Paola Orsini was awarded with the special prize "best packaging and labels". In the beautiful site of the Abbey, some expert nutritionists and sensorial analysts discussed about the themes: olive oil and health; technological innovation in the oil- production and quality; sensorial analysis for the qualitative improvement of Pontine oil-production.
