Made in Italy - Handcraft quality on show at Modena
Man, home, things, taste: these are the four themes
dealt with at "Artigiana Italiana", organized at
Modena fair, on 10 thousand sq. metres space and with
over one hundred fifty exhibitors. The visitors
could admire cloths and top-quality items, but
even jewels, precious furniture, pictures, mirrors,
curtains and some typical food, everything was
"made in Italy" thanks to our handcraft-masters.
For Emilia Romagna there were pottery, cloths,
wrought iron manufactures, but even hand worked
enlighten signs.
There were very particular items as the working of
historical leather that is to say the lining repair of
medieval armours and of the internal part of
swords' scabbards. Artex, the centre of artistic
and traditional handcraft from Tuscany, brought to
the fair its' handcraft gallery that exhibited the
production of unique pieces and/or small series,
often numbered, always top quality level and of
high value, which belong to a market niche. The
Consorzio Artistico Trentino ( an Artistic Consort
from a northern region- Trentino) presented
several items: from simple and humble wooden
objects ( home tools of rural origin as the mestolo-
a wooden spoon- or the " Canarola" with " el
tabiel"- tools to cook polenta- or " el brentel" used
for sauerkrauts) to more refined objects decorated
by hand with antique techniques and original
graphic solutions. There was also Sardinia with an
area called Gal dell'Ogliastra: these lands, in the
centre of the south-eastern coast of the island,
constitute an area placed between the mountains of
Gennargentu and the Tyrrhenian sea, where nature
and genuineness still survive. This region obviously
presented its typical food: from the precious extra-
virgin olive oil to the numerous types of bread.
