QM - Quality Mark for the Olive Oil

The QM mark, the guaranteed quality of the marks, has been attributed also to the olive oil, one of the best products of the agro- food production. The Regional Council approved the regulation for the productive chain (the so-called filiera) of the extra virgin olive oil; this was done to promote a product endowed with higher quality features than the average products. This project can be realized through the regulation and traceability of the several steps: cultivation, picking, transformation, packaging and stocking processes. These rules are addressed to the agricultural farms, the olive mills, the packagers and stockers who will have no compulsory exclusivity but they will have the opportunity to show the production chain in each of its phases for the QM products, this is a good way to grant a correct identification of the product. The typical oils from Marche can boast of the QM, as the extra virgin olive oil from Ascoli, Carboncella, Coroncina, Mignola, Orbetana, Piantone Falcone, Piantone of Mogliano, Raggia, Raggiola, Sargano from Fermo. If every member of the ‘filiera’ joins the traceability system (Sytra), we will have a further guarantee of transparency for the consumer.
