Agricolture: Ferrandina oil will become PDO on 4th October

The commissioner for agriculture of the region Basilicata, Vincenzo Viti, is going to present the Ministry for Agricolture, Luca Zaia, the request to introduce the inquiry to let extra virgin olive oil by Manatica di Ferrandina( Matera) have the denomination of protected origin (PDO). Viti spread this news in a notice by the Press-office of the Regional Council. He explained:” there is also the possibility to improve the Union of the agrofood producers recently founded at Ferrandina; it involves about 10 entrepreuners up to today. The whole local production-he added- and the possibility to realize joint-actions among the local institutions to improve our land are our first priority to be carried out together with the Agency for the promotion of the area and the interested Pro-loco”.
