OIL: AT BITONTO EXTRAVIRGIN FESTIVAL

The aim of this Festival of the oil at Bitonto( Bari) is promoting the extra virgin olive oil from Bitonto beyond the borders of Apulia even through the improvement of the architectonic and landscape beauties. It consists of three days dedicated to the culture of good diet, to literature and craftsmanship to the history and traditions of Bitonto. Luigi Farace( President of the Chamber of Commerce) Trifone Altieri( vicepresident of the province of Bari) and the major of Bitonto Raffaele Valla presented the festival yesterday. Farace said” we believe in our excellent production, that’s why the extra virgin must be exported at most, even to promote well our land”. According to Altieri “ It is not the usual fair, but an event attracting also tourists” Valla underlined how the knowledge of our oil quality in the world can have positive socio- economic results. This festival opens with a walk in the centre of Bitonto, to discover the places and tastes we once had . At 9.00 p.m. slow food dinner in front of the cathedral. Then tasting of typical dishes made with oil, exhibition of local products, presentation of the book “ Old cook, good dishes” by Vittorio Stagnani, and folk-parades. Even the books “ Giropuglia” by Alena Sinibaldi and the “Guide to the extra virgin oil from Apulia” edited by Tirsomedia will be presented.
