Olive oil as natural analgesic

The extra virgin olive oil is a natural analgesic. It contains a substance that imitates the same analgesic effect of ibuprophene, the non-steroidal anti-inflammatory. This comes out from a study of the Monell Chemical Senses Center in Philadelphia, published in “Nature”; this is another good reason to use the key-dressing of the mediterranean diet. The substance, called “oleocanthal” eliminates the same enzime that generates pain, cured by ibuprophene, though the two active principles are radically different. Besides, both this substance of the extra virgin olive oil and ibuprophene cause the same pricking in the throat. According to the study, 50 grams of oil a day are the same as the usual adult posology for adults. The oil hasn’t the same effect on pain as the medicine, the experts say, but the regular consumption of this dressing could have the same benefits, on the long term, as the medicine. For example it reduces the risk of cancer.
