FOOD: OBESITY ALARM FOR ITALIAN CHILDREN
The art of good food is a convention which took place at Geneva where some strategies against obesity were planned. A diet with prevailing use of cereals, fish, fruit, vegetables, olive oil, red wine (at certain quantities) and scarce use of salt. Particular attention to children’s diet, daily or constant at least, physical activity. Strict control of overweight (hips not over cm.102 for men and 88 for women). This was the information about enogastronomy without emphasis and performances. Obesity causes about 80% diabetic cases (type - 2), 35% ischemic diseases, 55% ipertensive diseases among adults, rapidly growing in Italy: the researches foresee that within 2010 obesity will affect 15 million adults and 2 million teen agers; teen agers’ data are really dangerous because they have been increasing ten times more than 1970.This convention was realized by the Carli brothers farm from Imperia-Oneglia olive oil and food specialities producer. This meeting was inspired to the art of good food not meant as a taste complementary but as a tribute gastronomy can give to correct nutrition. In the end a wandering exhibition was started. This exhibition will be open till 30 November with various documents connected to olive oil and oil-production. This event was supported by the Carli brothers at Palazzo Ducale.
