Oil-week: the challenge is to increase productiveness

The aim is to limit the expenses of production in the phase of picking, trimming and watering as to improve the productiveness of the olive-trees and the labour. These are challenges of the Italian oil sector according to administers and producers who met at Serre di Rapolano ( a village in the South) for the Twelfth National Week of the oil. According to Giampiero Cresti, director of the association of the oil -farmers from Tuscany, and promoter of the project "Mateo" which aims at limiting the costs in the oil production- "It is necessary to reduce the use of the resources through a rational use of labour and the indication of necessary investments, just to provide enterprises and enterprisers with practical models of development of olive- culture". The conference and the meeting were organized by the town council of Rapolano Terme together with Enoteca Italiana and the Province of Siena.
