FOOD: twinning red pepper from Diamante and nut from Giffoni

Calabria and Campania twin in the name of two typical regional specialities and celebrate this “love – marriage” between the red pepper from Diamante and the round nut, queen of Giffoni: the first events will take place at Giffoni (Salerno), followed by other events at Diamante. These initiatives, as it was communicated, are going to start from “Vetrinapac” of Arnaldo Grisolia and the exhibition of the comics “From China with humour”. Then in the council room Giffoni Sei Casali a meeting entitled “Red pepper, health and its surroundings” will take place with the President of the Academy of Red pepper, Enzo Monaco. Finally at night a dinner will be organized, made of delicate but spicy food. Some entertainment will be provided by the comic actor Gianni Pellegrino. On Sunday morning at Giffoni Sei Casali, at Corte dei Santi square, it will be possible to taste nut coffee. Soon after a visit to Oliario del Borgo is organized, where an Exhibition of art and rural traditions can be seen and some olive oil can be tasted. At lunchtime, in a wine bar, some specialities from Calabria and Piacentini mountains will be served. Enzo Monaco reckoned: ‘It is an initiative of extraordinary importance not only from a gastronomic point of view but also from a cultural one. We can not forget, in fact, that every year Diamante hosts a festival of spicy cinema and Giffani Vallepiana is famous in the world for its cinematographic initiatives”. In the next months the town councils of Diamante and Giffoni are going to meet again to discuss about nut and red pepper and to analyze any possible synergy for the cinema.
