The Mediterranean diet as Unesco candidate for mankind’s heritage

Today Spain ,Italy and Morocco have presented the Mediterranean diet candidacy as mankind’s immaterial world heritage, this is the news spread by the Spanish Ministry for Agriculture and Environment.
This request is provided with documents which will be checked by the United Nations for Education, Science and Culture( Unesco), which will announce its decision during the second half of 2009. This report, made and coordinated by the Mediterranean Diet Foundation emphasizes the importance of this kind of diet from a cultural, social, historical, environmental and traditional point of new. The report lists and analyses also all the acts made by the government and the Local Departments to defend the Mediterranean diet. This consists of a great use of vegetable, fruit, pulses, cereals, dried fruit, bread with a base of corn and the olive oil as main fat. It provides also more fish and” white” meat than red meat and a moderate use of wine drunk during the meals.
