Oil Sector and Spinneret

Spain and Italy are not only the main producers of olive oil, but even the biggest exporters (with a percentage of respectively 42% and 35% in 2004), the third, most important exporter is Tunisia that has also the fifth position as a producer. Between the four-year-periods 1990/1993 and 2001/2004 the value of world exports of olive oil increased of 84% (in the same period the bulk of production increased of 43%). Both Spanish and Italian exports increased, as far as value is regarded, more than the world exports (respectively 99% and 167%) in this way also their market share increased (in particular Italy).
