Bio-oil: managing problems and future perspectives

The worst problem of the repliers (77%) was that buyers do not usually perceive the quality of the product (MAP 3). This is more particularly expressed by North (83%) less in the South (72%). All the other problems, due to competition, to the lack of capital, to trade with GDO or with the traditional retail, are presented as less serious problems. The Northern enterprises underline the lack of raw materials (25%), while the Southern enterprises denounce technological problems (14%) that are absent in the North.
The lack of capitals to be invested is signalled by 28% of the cases, especially those we do not know the provenience (50% ); while the Southern enterprises (19%) as the Northern (17%) denounce a difficult access to the managing credit anyway, 46% of the repliers affirmed to have never had public funds, while the most enterprises in the South and in the North had some funds on stock capital account or on interest account, to invest in new structures. Very frequent also the concessional funds to acquire machinery (46% in the North and 42% in the South). About one/tenth of the enterprises got some fund or facility to attend national and international fairs. In the next future 46% of enterprises are going to introduce new machinery and 41% are going to launch new products. 29% are going to open new outlets. The Northern enterprisers are more likely to favour the innovation of the product and of the system, but the Southern ones want to fill in the present gap. Great investments, as for example the building of new establishments, or the renewal of an old one, are rarely demanded. Some of the repliers from the Centre made the hypothesis of closing some activities, a perspective not to be found among the Northern operators.
