EU, agricultural incomes in 2007: 5,4% in Europe, -2% in Italy
In 2007 in Europe, compared to the previous year, the agricultural income increased on the average,
of 5,4 % with some variation shifting from +39,3% of Lithuania to - 16,7 % of Romania. There is a
decrease of 2 % for the Italian producers. This news was spread by 'Eurostat', the European statistic
office, according to which the increase was the result of the 3,1% growth of real incomes together
with a 2,2% reduction of labour. Incomes were also influenced by the hard changes recorded in the
prices of the products. Still in 2007, compared to 2006,the real prices to producers for continental
production, like cereals and oil-products, have increased respectively of 46,2 % and 21,9%. These
increases gave an economical input for example, to the German ( +12,5%) and French ( +7,5%)
producers. On the contrary some reductions in prices were recorded for some typical
Mediterranean productions. The real price to the producer for the olive oil decreased of 19,4% and
the one of fresh greens decreased of 0,7%, even potatoes had a 3,2% drop sugar beet recorded a
12,8% drop. The real prices to wine and fruit producers didn't change much remaining at about
4,5% and 4,2%.
